Clinical presentation
A 24 year old woman presented with bloody rectal discharge of three months’ duration. She had a medical history of herpes progenitalis and candida vaginitis. On examination, there was no tenderness in the abdomen. Routine stool culture and blood tests were negative. Colonoscopy with indigo carmine dye revealed friable and erythematous nodular mucosa in the lower rectum (fig 1Go).
