CLINICAL PRESENTATION

A 34-year-old man with Lowe syndrome presented with features of subacute bowel obstruction and weight loss. Lowe syndrome is an X-linked recessive syndrome comprising of congenital cataracts, neonatal or infantile hypotonia with subsequent mental impairment and renal tubular dysfunction. Abnormal behaviour with unusual obsessions and self-injurious behaviour is not uncommon with this syndrome. His plain abdominal film demonstrated multiple metallic objects within the bowel (fig 1Go).
