In view of the history and atherosclerotic changes in the aorta and mesenteric arteries on abdominal computed tomography (CT) a diagnosis of intestinal angina was considered. Magnetic resonance imaging angiography disclosed high-grade atherosclerotic stenosis in the coeliac artery (fig 1, arrow) and in the superior mesenteric artery (fig 1, arrowhead).
