We appreciate the comments by Riegert-Johnson et al1 on our manuscript concerning cancer risk and mortality in patients with Peutz–Jeghers syndrome (PJS).2 We fully agree that it is of major importance for the clinical management and surveillance of PJS patients to establish whether their gastrointestinal malignancies are from hamartomas, coexisting adenomas or otherwise normal-appearing mucosa.
