↵1-18-150 29 patients were positive for C.difficile toxin. In addition, 1 patient had the diagnosis made at sigmoidoscopy and 1 at post-mortem. 186 patients with a negative stool culture, had a non-infectious cause for their diarrhoea identified on clinical review; the commonest being antibiotic associated in 48 cases (19%), laxatives in 35 (14%), diet/feeding in 23 (9%), post-chemotherapy in 14 (6%) and constipation with overflow in 9 (4%).
