Abstract

The relation between diverticulosis of the colon and certain environmental factors was studied in Greece. It was found that the disease occurs more frequently in the urban population and in the more prosperous section of it. The amount of indigestible material in the diet was not found to be significant. The importance of city life and irritable colon as possible etiologic factors is stressed.
