The TRPV-1 antagonist action of BCTC was confirmed on human intestinal circular muscle preparations, where capsaicin causes only relaxation (Barthó et al., 2002; Maggi et al., 1990). To the best of our knowledge the effect of BCTC vs. capsaicin has not yet been studied on any human smooth muscle preparation, the guinea-pig and mouse bladder and the guinea-pig renal pelvis, ileal and tracheobronchial tissue in vitro.
