2013, Research in Veterinary ScienceCitation Excerpt :CALB-IR was localized in the cytoplasm and nucleus, as already reported in other species (Quinson et al., 2001; Chiocchetti et al., 2004; Sadeghinezhad et al., 2013). In ileal MPs of the guinea pig, CALB-IR neurons represent intrinsic sensory neurons (IPANs) (Iyer et al., 1988; Song et al., 1991; Quinson et al., 2001). In the Persian squirrel CALB-IR, which abundantly colocalizes with ChAT- and CGRP-IR, could also play a role in sensory functions (Sadeghinezhad et al., 2013).
Roles of substance P and ATP in the subepithelial fibroblasts of rat intestinal villi
2013, International Review of Cell and Molecular BiologyCitation Excerpt :These systems contribute to elegant movement and mechanical characteristics of intestinal villi during digestion process. When action potential is evoked, a signal in a villus can spread to neighboring villi through a trans-somatic or an axonal reflex in an IPAN, because one IPAN supplies collaterals into several (Song et al., 1991, 1992, 1994) villi (Fig. 3.10). Signals will propagate from IPANs to the secretomotor and secretomotor/vasodilator neurons through synaptic connections.
