No functional studies were performed on the human stomach, while NK1 and NK2 were found expressed in the human stomach (Candenas et al., 2002; Smith et al., 1998). The study on the mechanism of actions for NK1-selective antagonists as anti-emetics focus on the area postrema at the brainstem (Ibrahim and Preuss, 2022), while the involvement of tachykinins on GI-related therapeutics or side effects remain largely unknown (Lecci et al., 2008; Sanger, 2004).
