2017, Food and Chemical ToxicologyCitation Excerpt :In an attempt to resolve this issue, many research groups have recently used GM as a food and feed on different experimental organisms. The results of some studies have unexpectedly indicated that there are potential health hazards (Pusztai et al., 1996; Seralini et al., 2012, 2014). Since 1998, two famous studies have been subjected to severe criticism from scientists, societies, the media, and politicians, namely, the Pusztai affair and the Seralini affair (Information box. 1).
