    Antibiotic prophylaxis using cefuroxime in acute pancreatitis

    The UK Guidelines on Acute pancreatitis by the BSG Working party (Gut 1998; 42(suppl 2): S1-13) recommends cefuroxime as the preferred antibiotic in patients with acute severe pancreatitis.
