This book is part of a cancer series from the MD Anderson on the multidisciplinary management of gastrointestinal cancers, as practised in their institution. The management of gastrointestinal cancers is a rapidly evolving and advancing field, with outcomes improving markedly over the past five years. This is particularly true for colorectal cancers (CRC) and gastrointestinal stromal tumours but there have also been small but significant advances in gastro-oesophageal and pancreatic cancers. There is a less clear impact in primary liver tumours, although there is consistency in phase III data for chemoembolisation of hepatocellular cancers.
