Bardou et al are to be congratulated on producing an excellent and comprehensive review of the existing literature on the link between excess body weight and colorectal neoplasia. The authors included the current literature on the effect of bariatric surgery on subsequent cancer risk and rightly pointed out that the previous small studies have lacked sufficient statistical power to determine accurately whether colorectal cancer (CRC) risk or mortality is impacted by bariatric surgery.1 However, Bardou et al conclude their Abstract by posing a provocative question regarding a possible role for bariatric surgery in the reduction of CRC risk, with the tacit …
