King's College Hospital criteria for transplantation in acute liver failure

Paracetamol
• pH <7.30 (irrespective of grade of encephalopathy) or
•  Prothrombin time >100 seconds and serum creatinine >300 μmol/l if in grade III or IV coma
Non-paracetamol
• Prothrombin time >100 seconds (irrespective of grade of encephalopathy) or
• Any three of the following (irrespective of grade of encephalopathy):
(i)    aetiology: non-A, non-B (indeterminate) hepatitis, halothane hepatitis, idiosyncratic drug reactions
(ii)  age <10 or >40 years
(iii) jaundice to encephalopathy interval >7 days
(iv) prothrombin time >50 seconds
(v)  serum bilirubin >300 μmol/l
