Total RNA was extracted from tissue samples by guanidinium-phenol-chloroform method as described in Methods. One microgram of total RNA was reverse transcribed using random hexamers and amplified by polymerase chain reaction using specific primers for PPARγ. The reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction products were electrophoresed on an ethidium bromide containing agarose gel.
MCT, mucinous cyst adenocarcinoma; T1, tumour limited to the pancreas; T1a, ⩽2 in greatest dimension; T1b, >2 in greatest dimension; T2, tumour extended directly to any of the following: duodenum, bile duct, or peripancreatic tissue; T3, tumour extended directly to any of the following: stomach, spleen, colon, or adjacent large vessel; N0, no regional lymph node metastasis; N1, regional lymph node metastasis; M0, no distant metastasis; M1, distant metastasis; HEP, hepatic metastasis; LYM, distant lymph node metastasis.
