However, when analyzing the few studies on the participation of this growth factor in the homeostasis of the digestive system, the results observed in this analysis agree with those published by Polk et al., who reported an increase in the production of TGF-α in response to acute gastric aggression with HCl.50 Similar finding was observed by Fujiwara et al., when analyzing mice with chronic reflux esophagitis.15
