Changes in VIP-, SP- and CGRP- like immunoreactivity in intramural neurons within the pig stomach following supplementation with low and high doses of acrylamide
2018, NeuroToxicologyCitation Excerpt :Increased SP expression has also been observed in patients with Helicobacter pylori (Mönnikes et al., 2005). Participation in inflammatory processes is exerted mainly by stimulation of NK1 receptors on the surface of inflammatory cells and by increased production of inflammatory agents (Mantyh et al., 1994). According to literature data, CGRP plays a key role in protection of the stomach against the harmful effect of irritating and inflammatory agents (Lambrecht et al., 1993).
